Essay Allow me to say “Hello” and how are you today? My name is RICK or RICKY and you can call me anything you like. A little about “Moi” – I was born in Toledo, Oregon on July 13, 1957 about 7 miles outside of Newport, Oregon. I’m a Pacific Northwesterner, raised in Tumwater, WA; a nice suburb of Olympia, WA. I graduated from Tumwater High School in 1976 and simultaneously completed a two-year college at both Centralia Community College and Olympia Vocational Technical Institute [OVTI] (which by the time I finished was Olympia Technical Community College) now South Puget Sound Community College [all these name changes, sheesh!]. I majored in “Accounting” with emphasis in Auditing so became proficient in GAAP [Generally Accepted Accounting Principles]. I entered in the United States Marine Corps trained at Parris Island, SC. I got trained by the United States Navy’s Field Medical Service School as a Medical Corpsman and I was part of the 1st Marine Division out of Camp Del Mar Marine Corps Base and we were known as “Death Cheaters”. I did 4 years military service and then went to work for the Veterans’ Administration as a Counselor-in-Training and eventually became a PTSD Counselor and Crisis Interventionist. I treated thousands of enlisted, retirees, their dependents, honorably discharged service veterans and their families and loved ones at the Fairbanks Vets’ Center in Fairbanks, Alaska until February 1990. I then worked for the law firm of Brungardt, Lowe and Associates in Mason County, Shelton, as a “Paralegal Investigator” having had training both in college and through the JAG Corps (sideline work) [long story] and prepared demand settlement packages to third party liability insurance carriers and made trial notebooks for lawyers representing their clients. In Sept. of 1999, I retired and continue to live in the Puget Sound Region, in Lacey, WA. I hang out at Cutter’s Point Coffee shop located off of Marvin Road NE near Exit 111 on Interstate 5. I spend most of time reading, browsing through antique stores, swap meets, garage sales, estate sales, auctions and occasional rock and gem shows. I like the outdoors, love animals and children and do not smoke or drink. I’m Roman Catholic, and consider myself a spiritual person. I been married twice, first marriage from 1979-1995 and the second 1998-2003; the second wife died April 1, 2006 and the first one is somewhere in Arizona with husband number five. I have no children or siblings so getting to know me should be easy. My father died in 1963; Mom is 72 and lives in Tacoma. I’m a private person, so I tend to shut down around 4pm daily and as a creature of habit; I tend to shut off my cell phone and in-for-the-evening after 4pm for the most part. Been doing this for over twenty five years and is part of my routine; but I can make myself available after that time, if the situation warrants it and no I am not married. Like I said, I do like the outdoors, not much of an evening person and not into going out clubbing and not into the cocktail lounge scene. I do not engage in illicit drug activities.
